Center for Curatorial Leadership

Today I found out about the Center for Curatorial Leadership. What it does is select a number of people from curatorial positions around the world that are most likely to become leaders. Within a year, they train these professionals to shape themselves into curators who not only take charge of their positions at galleries and museums, but also assume the needed leadership skills that business requires.
The announcements of this year’s team has been done. Here are the selected professionals:

Christophe Cherix, Curator, Department of Pritns and Illustrated Books
The Museum of Modern Art, New York

Deborah Cullen, Director of Curatorial Programs
El Museo del Barrio, New York

Malcom Daniel, Curator in Charge, Department of Photographs
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

Kristina van Dyke, Associate Curator for Collections and Reasearch
The Menil Collection, Houston

Kathleen Forde, Curator of Time-Based Visual Arts
The Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Alison de Lima Greene, Curator, Contemporary Art & Special Projects
Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

Frederick Ilchman, Curator of Paintings
Museum of Fone Arts, Boston

Chyio Ishikawa, Deputy Director for Art & Curator,
European Paintings and Sculpture Seattle Art Museum

Alisa LaGamma, Curator, Department of the Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

Lisa E. Rotondo-McCord, Assistant Director for Art & Curator of Asian Art
New Orleans Museum of Art

Trevor Schoonmaker, Curator of Contemporary Art
Nasher Museum of Art, Duke University

Stephan Wolohojian, Curator & Department Head, Department of Paintings, Sculpture & Decorative Arts
Harvard Art Museum/Fogg, Harvard University

What’s going to happen with them as part of the program? Well, first they will move to New York (the ones who don’t, already). Then, during six months, they will have a combination of teaching and doing, such as classes, projects and assignments. The areas will cover finance, strategy, human resources, governance and more.

Now, isn’t it a program?
